Our motto at Hare Krishna Valley is “natural living, high thinking”. Natural living means the residents live a comfortable, uncomplicated life in harmony with nature. By reducing our “wants” to “needs”, we manage to live in a peaceful state of mind. We believe peace of mind is a prerequisite for true happiness.
The open day will be held on Sunday December 5th, beginning at 12 noon. The day will revolve around the Festival of the Cows, which was inaugurated by Krishna, the God of play, 5,000 years ago in Vrindavan, India.
The festival signifies the importance of the cow and bull in traditional and modern day culture. This festival is an opportunity to engage in blissful exchanges between animals and human beings while promoting peace for all those who participate. In recent years, the Festival of the Cows has gained international popularity, and is now celebrated on every continent.
The day begins with an auspicious blessing ceremony held in the Temple. Everyone then walks to the cows accompanied by singing with musical instruments. The cows are then honoured with garlands and an offering of special sweets. Everyone then gathers at one of the scenic locations on our 200 acre property to enjoy an explanation of the festival by one of the senior Hare Krishna monks.
The day culminates in a sumptuous vegan/vegetarian feast as everyone enjoys socializing on the lawn with family and friends.
There are limited places available due to current restrictions, with only 550 tickets available.
Children under 5 can attend for free. There is ample parking on site, and disability parking is also provided. Please note that this is a family friendly event and no alcohol, drugs, meat, smoking or anger is allowed on the property. Please check our Facebook page for updates.
Hare Krishna Valley is an organic farm and retreat centre based on the principles of eastern spirituality and is dedicated to demonstrating an example of eco living and the practice of bhakti-yoga. The farm has established a humanitarian dairy as part of their Care for Cows program.
On the second Sunday of each month, the Valley hosts a Feastival which includes mantra meditation, an enlightening discourse and a sumptuous vegan/vegetarian feast. Regular retreats are scheduled throughout the year, with topics including yoga, vegan/vegetarian cooking, ayurveda and vedic astrology.
